Chennai corporation front line workers affected by Corona virus to get Rs 2 lakhs each

Civic body workers while undertaking preventive measures get affected with Corona virus infection. These workers could feel relieved now. The reason for the relief is GCC has given orders to issue ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakhs to these civic body employees.
It has been mentioned in the order(dated 12th May) issued by the Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. G. Prakash that 35 officials and employees who have contacted Corona virus till 11th May would get ex-gratia amount.
The order also pointed out that the amount would be disbursed based on GO that promised relief to the employees who were involved in Covid-19 preventive works. It is important to note that 13 employees were from Royapuram zone and 10 from the Anna Nagar zone.
Relief amount would also be given to those belonging to Thiru- Vi- Ka Nagar, Kodambakkam and Teynampet zones. It is said that the civic body would distribute an amount of Rs 2 lakhs to all the employees working in the field if they contact Covid-19.
The ex-gratia amount was given to permanent employees and the worker’s union wants the Chennai Corporation to give ex-gratia even to those who have been temporarily engaged in the prevention works.
