Permission sought by Ritchie Street traders to open their shops

Ritchie Street in Chennai is an important place for the electronic items and there are many shops here. These shops have been closed due to lock down is known.
The latest news is the traders of Ritchie Street have made an appeal to the state government for getting permission to open their shops as soon as possible.
After the Nehru Palace in New Dehi, Ritchie Street in Chennai is the second largest market for electronic items in India. It must be noted that the electronic market is spread through the Narasingapuram Street, Wallers Road, Meeran Sahib Street, Mohammad Hussain Sahib Street and Guruappa Road and these are adjacent to Anna Salai or Mount Road. Around 8000 persons work here.
According to Mr. Chandalia, secretary of Chennai Electronics and Infotech Traders Association of Ritchie Street, this market was closed down when the announcement about the lock down came. He added that other electronic, mobile and computer peripheral shops were allowed to open in Chennai but Ritchie Street was not given permission to open.
He revealed that the request to open the shops in Ritchie Street has been made to the state government and then spoke about the safety measures that would be followed by the shops in Ritche Street.
Information gathered is the live hood of many daily wage earners, casual workers, tricycle pullers and courier staffs mainly depends on their daily income and their families were most affected.
It is now brought out that the business at Ritchie Street has been down ever since Corona virus outbreak began in China.
