Highest single day spike in Corona virus positive cases in Chennai

This news would certainly shock many Chennai residents!!
On Friday, 8th May 2020, Chennai city recorded the highest single day spike in Corona virus cases. There were as many as 399 fresh cases on Friday with 600 testing positive for Corona virus in TN.
It is important to note that the total number of Corona virus positive cases in TN has reached 6009 and a total of 3043 cases have been reported from Chennai alone till now. Koyambedu market cluster has been responsible for 1589 persons testing Covid-19 positive.
Almost all the contacts linked with Koyambedu market cluster has been traced and tested. This was confirmed by the officials from Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
An official later spoke about how none among the new positive cases reported on Friday were primary contacts. He added that the contacts of the existing Covid-19 cases in all the clusters were being traced.
Important information gathered is Tiruvallur district recorded as many as 75 Corona virus positive cases. Districts such as Cuddalore, Chengalpet, Villupuram and Thiruvannamalai recorded 34, 26 and 21 and 11 positive cases respectively. There were eight positive cases from districts like Kancheepuram and Kanniyakumari respectively. Point to be taken into note is new cases were reported in Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Dharmapuri, Theni and Ramnad.
Till now, as many as 40 persons have died due to corona virus infection in TN and in the last 24 hours TN reported 3 deaths that was the highest ever in a single day.
According to the Union Health Minister, Mr. Harsh Vardhan, there was a need to increase sampling and testing of SARI or Severe Acute Respiratory Illness and influenza like illness cases in TN. He explained about how sampling and testing must be done with proper quarantine arrangements of migrants returning back from other states.
