Now, patients with mild Corona virus symptoms to be home isolated in TN

Couple of days ago, mild and pre-symptomatic Corona virus patients were moved to non-hospital care centres from the isolation wards in the government hospitals. On Tuesday, the state health department came out with home isolation.
A GO has been issued by Mrs. Beela Rajesh, health secretary and the GO specified the guidelines for home isolation. The main idea behind this home isolation was to make sure that the Covid-19 care centres were kept for those who cannot afford stringent home isolation and hospital beds are reserved for critically ill, elders and those with comorbid conditions. Based on the recommendations from the DME, the guidelines were developed.
Mrs Beela Rajesh later revealed that both inside and outside the hospital, several levels of care is being set up now. She added that those who are asymptomatic should take enough precautions and be at their homes.
It is worth mentioning that a patient could be declared eligible for domiciliary isolation if he or she does not have any symptoms or have mild symptoms as told by the treating doctor and after signing the undertaking for self isolation. Point is patients must have isolated rooms with good ventilation and with attached or separate toilet. The patients must be away from elders and from those with comorbid conditions like BP, heart/kidney disease etc.
It is a must for the patients to download Arogya Seth app on their mobile phones and keep it active by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. A 3 layered face mask must be worn by the patients and the masks must be disposed after 8 hours or when they become dirty etc.
Availability of the caregiver round the clock is very important and the caregiver must have a communication link through landline/mobiles with the hospital. As per the doctor’s advice, the caregivers and other close contacts must take hydroxychloroquine tablets along with zinc tablets etc for 10 days.
