2.5 lakh litres of milk sourced by Aavin from other dairies now

Madhavaram dairy has been grabbing the eyeballs as 5 loaders have tested positive for Corona virus. This has resulted in the shortage of labour at the Madhavaram dairy. Information collected is Aavin is sourcing 2.5 lakh litres of milk from other dairies in TN. Every day, Madhavaram dairy supplies 3.5 lakh litres of milk to Chennai city are known.
For the purpose of maintaining the milk supply to Chennai city, TN Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, has been sourcing milk from places such as Erode, Vellore, Trichy, Kancheepuram, and even from Madurai dairies etc.
It was later mentioned by Mr. Vallalar, MD, Aavin, that getting labourers was an issue at Madhavaram because of the lock down.
He threw light on how other dairies were providing their helping hand as small numbers from many places have been taken and not just from one single dairy. By this, too much burden on a individual dairies has been avoided.
