The lock down in Chennai due to Corona virus has made life very difficult for the residents as they are not allowed to go out easily just like they used to when everything was normal. It must be noted that the vegetable shops and markets that were opened to provide vegetables, fruits etc for the people in Chennai have been seeing heavy crowds and this inspite of the fact social distancing is necessary now to avoid spreading of Covid-19.
To avoid over crowing at the shops and markets, the TN Horticultural Development Agency or TANHODA has established a portal ethottam. com and by this vegetables as well as fruits would be delivered at the doorsteps itself. Important information is the department offers vegetables in 3 packages of Rs 300, Rs 500 and Rs 600. The 3 packages have same set f vegetables of around 15 but the weight ranges from 0.25 kg to 1 kg.
Various veggies that would be present in the packages are tomatoes, beans, carrots, lady’s finger, yam, beetroot, radish, ginger, chillies and brinjal. Fruits that would be available in the bag are bananas, apples, pomegranates, guavas, water melons, musk melons, grapes etc.
The initiative to supply veggies and fruits to the Chennai residents began just 5 days back and it has been going very well. This was revealed by Mr. N. Subbaiyan, director, Department of Horticulture and Plantation crops. He spoke about how till now the portal received as many as 8300 orders and how the order would be delivered within a day.
