Posted on: 30/Mar/2020 12:18:04 PM
The raging coronavirus pandemic, which started in the city of Wuhan, China during December 2019, has spread fast and wide globally and has created a panic among the global citizens!

As regards India, so far 29 lives have been lost! 1129 citizens have been affected. Out of this, 116 patients have recovered!

Both the central and the state governments have taken this as an emergency disaster and have taken various preventive control measures against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

As a part of this, the Prime Minister Narendra Mosi insisted that the country must observe a ‘janta curfew’ on 22nd March. All the shops and organisations were closed on that day.

Buses and trains were stopped. However, the virus spreading continued  and intensified! Hence, on 24th March at 8.00 PM, the prime Minister addressed the nation. He observed:

‘The janta curfew was a great success only because of your whole-hearted cooperation. The only recourse to avoid/prevent coronavirus pandemic is social isolation!

So, this is a juncture where all of us are constrained to take a decision – this may entail a great economic recession in the country! However, the lives of the citizens are far more important than economic repercussions! The life each citizen is vitally important! In this regard, full curfew is being imposed on the whole country from 12.00 Midnight (24th March). So, the citizens must refrain from venturing out of their houses for the next 21 days!

These next 21 days are very critical for us! If we fail to be careful during this period, we may regress 21 years backwards! Several families may be rendered destitute!’

In this scenario, the Central Cabinet Secretary Rajeev Kowya explained regarding the curfew:

There are no plans currently to extend the curfew after 14th April. So, it is a surprise to hear that the curfew is being extended! It is expected that the curfew would be taken off from 15th April and the citizens would return to normal life!’
