In this time of lock down, Chennai Corporation received just Rs 1.5 lakhs as donation amount till now

The Corona virus has resulted in complete lock down in India now and many people are struggling to make both ends meet in this situation. The officials belonging to Chennai corporation have mentioned that the donations by cash or rations have been low. Those who are economically backward would not be able to get essential things due to this total lock down.

There are about 71 lakhs people living in Chennai and from these people the civic body has just got an amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs till now plus 100 to 200 kgs of rice bags.

It must be noted that the Chennai Corporation feeds as many as 3097 people that included stranded migrant workers thrice a day. A senior official belonging to the Chennai Corporation threw light on the dependency of the civil supplies to cook food every day. He pointed out that the supplies got till now were from individuals and from resident welfare organisations and not from any large firms and suppliers. 

Important information is the civic body had sought essential items like 15 kg rice, 2 kg dal, 500 ml oil, 1 kg milk powder and 1 kg wheat flour, sambar/rasam powder plus items like 2 sanitary napkins and 2 soaps to constitute a kit.

At J.J Indoor basketball stadium at Kilpauk in Chennai, the civic body has now got 5 to 10 kg dal and oil in its larder. Point is the supplies have been dropped off at this stadium or at Amma Arangam at Kumaran Nagar, Anna Nagar East.
