Southern Railway announces cheerful news for train passengers!

During the high-density traffic hours, trains will be run every 7 minutes in the section Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chingleput-Thirumaplur-Arkonam.

This happy news was announced by Southern railway and this would be implemented from today (Monday, 1st July).

In an announcement regarding this, Sothern Railway has mentioned:

‘During the high-density traffic hours, trains will be run every 7 minutes in the section Chennai Beach-Tambaram-Chengalpet-Thirumaplur-Arkonam. New electric trains will be run on the sections from Chennai to Arkonam and Gummidipundi and from Chennai Beach to Velacherry and Chengalpet.

There are some changes in the women’s special trains run in the mornings and evenings between Arkonam -Velacherry and Tambaram-Chennai Beach. Some coaches will accommodate both men and women henceforth.

8 special trains which were operated in the sections from Chennai Central-Avadi and Gummidipundi-Chengalpet will now become a part of the regular services.

Apart from this, there are changes in the starting time for most suburban trains by 5 to 15 minutes and also the express trains starting from Chennai Central and Egmore Stations.

The Guruvayur Express, which starts from Chennai Egmore Station at 8.15 AM until now, will start at 8.25 AM. Ananthapuri Express, which starts at 7.50 PM, will now start at 8.10 PM. Uzhavan Express, which starts at 10.40 PM, will now start at 10.55 PM.

Brindavan Express, which starts from Chennai Central at 7.50 AM, will now start at 7.40 AM. Lal Bagh Express, which starts at 3.35 PM, will now start at 3.30 PM. Bangalore Mail, which starts at 11.15 PM, will now start at 10.55 PM.’
