Chennai Corporation tells hotel owners to process kitchen waste

The corporation has asked hotels, restaurants and community halls to set up bio-methanation or composting plants to handle kitchen waste. Garbage reaching landfills would drop by nearly 15%, or 640 tonnes every day.
The civic body held a meeting with a few hotel and community hall owners on Wednesday, who come under the category of bulk generators of garbage to discuss user charges to clear garbage.
