Only 2500 devotees allowed to climb the mountain peak to have Maha Deepam Darshan

The most important event of the Maha Deepam to be lit on the peak of  the Thiruvannamalai mountain for the grand and famous Thirukarthigai festival is scheduled tomorrow (Friday, 23rd November). On the day of Maha Deepam, it will be lit as per the Chennai High Court Order. Only 2500 devotees will be allowed to climb the 2688’ mountain to participate and have Darshan of the lighting of the Maha Deepam on top of the mountain. Further, a lot of other restrictions have also been imposed.

In a notification regarding this, the distinct collector K. S. Kandasamy has informed that the permission chit for climbing the mountain will be issued only to 2500 devotees. This will be given at the Thiruvannamalai Government Arts College on 23rd November from 6.00 AM to 11.00AM. The devotees who come for getting this need to show their identity proofs.

The devotees who receive this permission chit will have to show it opposite the temple tower as indicated. The devotees will  not be allowed to climb through other routes.

The devotees climbing the mountain can carry only drinking water bottles. It is mandatory for the devotees not to carry easily inflammable items such as Camphor, fire-crackers, etc.

The devotees who obtained the permission chit to climb/descend can take only the route as instructed.
