Prices of brinjal, carrot up in Koyambedu market

Due to recent huge floods in Kerala, the transport got completely affected. Hence, the vegetables could not be transported from Tamil Nadu to Kerala over the last 1 month.
Instead, the vegetables for Kerala were diverted to the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market. Due to this additional stock, the price of the vegetables was down. However, with improving conditions in Kerala, the prices of vegetables have started increasing again.
Brinjal, which was sold at Rs. 10 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 25 per kg. Carrot, which was sold at Rs. 35 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 45 per kg. Drumstick, which was sold at Rs. 15 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 25 per kg. Broad beans, which was sold at Rs. 20 per kg is now sold at Rs. 25 per kg. Tomato, which was sold at Rs. 10 per kg, is now sold at Rs. 12 per kg.
Other vegetable prices in Rs. per kg: Onion 16, Sambar (small) onion 30, Potato 26, Ladys finger (Vendaikkai) Rs. 8, Radish 15, Cabbage 10, bitter gourd, beetroot, and beans 15, snake gourd 8, and green chilli 20.
The traders explained regarding this: Presently, the normal conditions have returned to the Kerala State. So, all vegetables are now being transported to that state. Subsequently, the quantity of vegetables arriving to Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market has reduced. This has caused an increase in the prices of vegetables.
