As the target set for the number of customers in the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme, the regulations have been relaxed and the citizens with plans to build their own houses have been advised to register in this scheme.

The PMAY scheme is specifically implemented for the for the people below the poverty line. In this scheme, the central government offers Rs. 1.75 Lakhs to build a house.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, an expense of up to Rs. 30000 is granted as human efforts. As the project progresses, the funds will be paid in 3 stages, Construction materials like rods, cement, sand, bricks, etc., will be supplied by the Local Panchayat. As the prices of these materials have gone up, most people could not afford the construction expense within the funds given. They need to take additional loans up to Rs. 2 Lakhs.

Because of the above factors, if 200 houses are allotted for each Panchayat, only 50 persons come forward to buy. The staff of the Panchayat needs to search and chase for the balance 150 customers.

In this situation, the authorities have relaxed certain regulations for this facility. As per the revised system, the persons interested in building a house has to register in the respective Panchayats or local administration with their names, Patta, Chitta, Aadhar, and Bank Savings Account number.

They have to take a photo of their own standing near their construction. Priority will be accorded according to the seniority of the registration.

The applicants must not possess any own house, cell phone, or 2-wheelers. The constructions which are more than 20 years old can be demolished and permission will be granted to build new ones.

An official informed that with the above relaxations and concessions, more prospective constructors would come forward for the offer.
