Chennai public irked by the delay in flyovers and subways constructions

It is known that the traffic in Chennai is increasing day by day and people are finding it very difficult. To ease this traffic congestion construction of flyovers and subways were proposed. This construction has been at standstill for many years now and this has angered the people of Chennai now.
Kovilambakkam and Villivakkam are important localities in Chennai and construction of flyovers has been stopped in these places now. As a result the motorists using Annanur and Korattur level crossings face obstructions due to heavy traffic. About 2 years back the construction of flyover was started and was stopped for 6 months of time. This place is accident prone due to heavy traffic congestion. Eight years back the construction of Villivakkam subway was stopped and there was no development in this till now and this has angered the public.
There are many office goers who travel from Korattur, Perambur, Villivakkam, Kolathur to the IT parks at Ekkattuthangal, Taramani and Porur etc. Construction of Villivakkam and Korattur subways would help these office goers hugely. Near Korattur railway station another subway project was started some 5 years ago and was closed since the year 2013.
No progress regarding the construction of the subway near the Korattur station has also angered many people. Even after crossing the deadline of 2017 this subway project is still uncompleted.
It was in 2012 Annanur flyover project first began and has been standstill till now. According to the railway authorities it is said that due to issues surrounding the demolition of temple and mosque, the construction work did not take place. Many accidents takes place because many people cross the railway track without following the signal. Trains also do not blow horns or use their beam lights resulting in many accidents. Construction of flyover would be superb as both life and time could be saved.
It is now revealed by the officials of southern railway that removal of encroachments at Villivakkam is going on and subway construction at Korattur would be completed by the end of 2018. Regarding Annanur subway and Kovilambakkam flyover construction the authorities remained unresponsive and indifferently stated that work was in progress.
