No service charges for online train booking till March

Service charges ranging from Rs. 20 to Rs. 40 were being collected for booking train tickets on the IRCTC website.
Following the demonetization announced last November (when currency notes of denominations Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 were declared invalid), the above service charges were withdrawn with the purpose of encouraging cashless transactions.
This concession was renewed first up to 30th June, and then up to 30th September. With this, the Ministry of Railways has now decided to extend this cancellation of service charges until March next year.
This has been conveyed to IRCTC, It may be noted that because of the cancellation of the above service charges, the Railway has incurred a loss of Rs. 184 Crores.
