Central government plans Wi-Fi for all panchayats

The central government has informed that the project of providing Wi-Fi facility in 5.5 Lakh villages in the next 2 years is fast taking shape.
The central government has planned to set up ‘digital villages’ with due consideration to the development of villages.
In the 1st Phase, Wi-Fi facility will be provided in 1 Lakh villages before the end of this year as per the information from the Secretary of the central government department of telecommunication.
The speed of the Wi-Fi internet facility will be 1 GBPS per second.
