Deadline for Aadhaar - PAN linking extended till 31st December

The central government had announced that it was mandatory to link Aadhar card to avail all the government welfare schemes offered. It also announced that the Aadhar card number must be linked to the PAN card as well the bank savings accounts. It announced a deadline for this task.
As per this, the deadline to link Aadhar with PAN was tomorrow (Thursday, 31st August). However, the central government has now announced that the deadline is extended further till 31st December. It is worth noting that some cases regarding Aadhar cards are still pending in the courts.
The registrar of the Supreme Court has informed that these cases will be taken up for an enquiry from the 1st week of November. With this as the main reason, the deadline for linking Aadhar with PAN has been extended till end December.
