Central government: Retail traders need to file their GST accounts only once in a month

Posted on: 24/Jun/2017 12:42:22 PM
The central government has announced it is sufficient for the retail traders to file their GST details only once in a month.

Earlier, it had been announced that the traders needed to file their GST details 3 times in a month. There was a severe protest against this from the traders. Now, this has been revised. The traders need to file their GST details only once in a month or 12 times in a year.

As compared, in the earlier proposed system, the traders needed to file GST details more than 35 times in a year. In case the trader does business in more than one state, even this number will multiply many times more. The traders explained that most of the traders’ times will be spent only on filing GST details. So, the first proposal was impractical.

In this situation, the Secretary of the central government department of Revenues, Mr. Hasmukh Aditya, explained that there is no need for the traders to file GST details 3 times in a month. This news is false and baseless. It is enough to file GST returns only once in a month. This would not be so difficult and it is more practical. The GST transactions would be more transparent with this procedure.
