Campus Recruitment vs Flood - Whats the Stand?

Posted on: 12/Dec/2015 11:28:11 AM
December being a placement season, all engineering institutions will be bustling about with recruitment and job offers. Things seem to have got changed this year though. A senior official of a private university at Kanchipuram alerts that there will be a break during this placement season and that it will have an adverse effect on prospects of students. Many companies have got their employees relocated to other metro cities. We are concerned about placement this year and the extent to which it will get affected, he added.

The Indian Institute of Technology-Madras popularly known as IIT-M launched the annual session at 00.01 am on 1st of December. Almost half of their student population gets placed within fifteen days. The same was reduced to ten days this year and the remaining days were left for internship. Elaborate arrangements were made by HR personnel. The recruitment saw participation by a few companies arrived for interview on 2nd December. A few companies chose to conduct interview via Skype, but this turned out to be a failure due to intermittent or nil power supply due to heavy showers.

The program is rescheduled for 6th January. Anand Krishnan O.K, the Secretary Research Affairs said we expect the companies to get back for recruitment as they have suggested the suspension by themselves.

In general, the mega recruitment program at Anna University begins following the seventh semester exams that ends around the mid of December. Exams are now scheduled to commence from the third week of December. Officials have planned to conduct the session during mid of January.

As most major IT firms have completed recruitment drive at Anna University, the program is likely to see only smaller companies to take part, say industry sources. Speaking about this, a senior official said they will ensure proper placement prospectus and that it will not get affected in anyway. We believe companies will understand our predicament.
