IBPS organises general written test for posts of bank clerks

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the authorised selection board for bank-related recruitments in the government.

Vacancies for clerks, Probationary Officers, and Special Officers required to be filled up in the 19 nationalised banks including Indian Bank, Canara Bank, and Indian Overseas Bank will be carried out by IBPS through written tests and interviews.

IBPS has now announced the 5th written test (CWE-5) for clerks.

The written tests are to be conducted in December.

Interviews are scheduled for February, 2016.

Applications are invited from eligible graduates.

Details of eligibility

Age limit

Applicants should be above 20 years of age as on 1st August, 2015. In other words, they should have born between 2nd August 1987 & 1st August, 1995. (those who are born in these 2 specific dates are also eligible).

OBC candidates are given 3 years’ concession in the age limit. OBC get 3 years concession. SC/ST get 5 years concession. Diff-ables candidates get 10 years concession.

Academic qualifications

Graduate from any of the Government recognised University or equivalent.  Computer skill is essential.

Selection Process

General written tests in 2 stages – Preliminary & Main – will be conducted. Successful candidates will be called for interview. Mark certificate will be given to successful candidates in these 3 stages.

When the 19 banks which approve this Boards selection announce vacancies in their banks, Applicants can present the IBPS mark certificate and join straightaway.

It is especially worth noting here that around 30000 vacancies for clerk posts are expected in the financial year 2016-17.

Application Fee: Rs. 600/- for OBC. Fees for SC/ST & diff-abled is Rs. 100/-.

Payments can be made online or downloading the challan, payment can be made in the banks.

Application Process

Eligible and interested candidates can visit IBPS website and fill the application and submit. Better to scan passport-size photograph, signature and keep ready for uploading. After submitting application, payment can be made online or offline. Candidates are advised to rake computer copies of filled applications & attachments for future use.

Important dates:

Last date for submission of application/payment: 1st September, 2015.
Last date for payment offline: 3rd September, 2015.

Dates of preliminary tests: 5th, 6th, 12th & 12th December.

Dates for Main examination: 2nd & 3rd January, 2016.

Tentative date for interviews: February, 2016
