Posted on: 10/Apr/2015 5:45:33 PM
Following the panic created in a Goa boutique where cameras spying on customers while changing dress was identified, there has been lot of news wide-spreading about such similar issues. The customer in the shop complained that she discovered a camera being present in the changing room. While investigating, it was then found that videos were recorded and stored in a computer from one other room of the same premises.

With the advent in technology, there is a heavy surge in such kind of problems. Cameras are one of those which is shrunk to miniscule size from their earlier size. These are portable, operated with battery and a tiny as possible. In fact we all have it in our pockets in the name of smartphone. Micro cameras are also available in the market which are unimaginably lesser in size like that of a rice grain. These are passed on to the arteries and veins to view the functioning of body parts inside.

Coming on to the troubles it cause, these tiny cameras can be intelligently hidden in a room and it’s tough to detect them with our eyes easily. As these are made available in the market easily, and affordably as low as Rs 500, privacy is getting risked!

Most of the places where such cameras are kept are public toilets, boutique changing rooms, or even hotel rooms. How to stay aware of these hidden cameras and ensure safety?

You have simple ways that can keep you protected from these. Not all the fooling methods are foolproof these days. Those dishonest people try to place these cameras inclined to some object like a flower pot, on the ceiling, within smoke detector, cloth hanger, behind mirror, inside a wall clock, switch boards, etc. Know where could these be possibly kept:

·         Check for the presence of cameras or camera wires in the room

·         Take a look at the flower pot, smoke detector, wires you find hanging around the room, and especially those wires that hang in the edges of wall, awkward bulges, repairing done on wall, and so on

·         Know if the mirror is two-way. Make a tap on the mirror

·         In case of a hotel room, ensure safety inside the toilet, bathroom, bedroom, etc

·         Take a deep look into clocks, television, cupboard, etc for the possible presence of camera

·         In case of a changing room, the culprit can be the clothes hanger, switchboard, ceiling, smoke detector, chair, table, clock, etc

You also have anti-spy gadgets in the market which can help you detect the presence of camera. Though this may be priced higher, you can opt for it if you really need to ensure privacy.
