Healthy Food Recipes - Ragi & Almonds Milk Porridge

Ingredients:
  • Ragi (Finger Millet – sprouted) – 5 spoon
  • Almonds -  5 nos (soaked overnight)
  • Milk – 200 ml
  • Sugar – 5 spoon
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Water – 500 ml
Method of Preparation:
  1. Soak Ragi for about half a day in water and drain it well and place it in a cotton cloth and cover it well for about half a day. You can very well observe the formation of sprouts in the Ragi.



  2. Soak Almonds (Badam) for overnight.
  3. Peel off the skin from the almonds and grind it well by adding milk to it.



  4. Then separately grind the sprouted Ragi thoroughly without adding water for about three turns.



  5. Then add little by little water and grind well.



  6. Then filter the grinded Ragi using a strainer and keep the filtrate (Ragi milk) separately. (You can very well use the thin cotton cloth for filtering the Ragi milk).
  7. Take half a bowl of water and equal ratio of milk (packet milk) and allow it to boil for some time. (If you don’t like the taste of milk you can avoid milk and add equal volume of water).
  8. At the time water gets boiled, add the badam (almond) paste and the Ragi milk filtrate and stir well simultaneously so as to avoid the formation of cramps.
  9. Depending on your favourable thickness of the porridge, you can adjust adding water quantity into it.
  10. Then add a pinch of salt to it and allow it to boil for about 10 minutes.
  11. Stir now and then, so as to avoid the contents sticking to the bottom of the vessel.
  12. Switch off the flame and serve either hot or cold.



  13. Energetic Ragi & Almond Porridge is ready for Morning breakfast!





Note:
  • Add only the Ragi milk filtrate, as the grainy contents will get struck in the mouth while consuming the porridge. 
  • Once switch off the flame, while cooling the porridge, keep on stirring now and then; else a thick layer will get arisen on top of it.
  • Instead of sugar, you can very well add jaggery; it will be healthier too.
  • In case if you are not possible to make sprouts, you can soak it overnight and grind it during morning.
  • You can use Ragi alone to prepare this porridge.
