4 hours power cut in Tamil Nadu

Though it sounds ridiculous since Tamil Nadu Government has taken necessary steps to avoid power cuts this summer, the power production from the first unit of the Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) was suspended after a breakdown. The production from the unit, which has capacity of 210 mw, came to a halt around 2.40 a.m. on Friday. The breakdown occurred in an air pre-heater of the unit after failure was identified in the support bearing equipment. With this suspension, there is a production shortfall of 210 mw. This could result in power cut in Tamil Nadu.
