Happy news!! Namma Yatri - A new and transparent cab option available for the Chennai residents now!!
On Thursday, 2nd May, a new cab option Namma Yatri was launched in Chennai. This is a direct to driver application. Yesterday, about 15000 cab drivers subscribed to this mobility app. It must be recalled that in the month of February, Namma Yatri was launched for autos also.
It was later brought to light by Namma Yatri that to address the transparency issues in the existing apps, a lifetime zero commission and direct-to-driver model app was launched.
Various important benefits of this newly launched mobility application are increased incomes for drivers, reduced prices for commuters, improved vehicle maintenance and improved customer service etc.
At the launch event of this mobility application, leaders of various trade unions of cab drivers like CITU, Urimai Kural Driver Trade Union, Urimai Karangal Driver Trade Union, Sigaram Drivers Union etc. In another 3 months, about 50000 cab drivers would be included and this was as per the management of Namma Yatri.
It is worthy to note that the app does not collect commission from the drivers on a daily ride basis. Point is that the drivers have to pay Rs 25 per day as subscription charges for autos and Rs 45 per day for cabs.
The sensational piece of information is that Namma Yatri and its family of apps have 62lakhs customers and 3.3 lakhs drivers completing about 3.6cr trips. This would make the drivers earn Rs 550 cr without commission. An amount of Rs 4cr as earnings has been generated for the drivers ever since Namma Yatri auto app was launched in February.
