A severe heatwave has gripped Tamil Nadu, with temperatures crossing 100°F (37.8°C) in at least 14 locations across the state. Major affected areas include Vellore, Erode, Paramathi Velur, Madurai Airport, and Palayamkottai, among others.

According to weather updates, a trough extending from North Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar is influencing the current weather pattern. Due to this system, light rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in isolated areas of the Western Ghats districts, delta regions, and southern coastal Tamil Nadu until April 25.

Meanwhile, most parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to experience dry weather, with hot and humid conditions prevailing. In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, offering minimal relief from the heat.
