The cinema halls in TN have been shut down since March to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection. To discuss various issues pertaining to the reopening of the cinema halls in TN, the owners of the cinema halls and representatives of the film industry would meet the CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. E. Palaniswami on 20th October or on 21st October. This was mentioned by Mr. Kadambur Raju, minister for information and publicity.

The minister threw light on the long pending issues faced by the cinema that were resolved by the present government. He pointed out that the guidelines to reopen the cinema halls from 15th October were issued by the central government by taking into account the welfare of many employees of the film industry.

There are many practical issues associated with the reopening of the cinema halls and the owners only would know about these issues. It is important to get the practical issues sorted out before reopening of the cinema halls. It is now revealed that the chief minister of TN has agreed to meet the theatre owners.

There are possibilities of reopening the cinema halls on the same day and the CM might announce his decision. This was mentioned by Mr. Kadambur Raju.
