The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) has announced traffic diversions from June 6, 2026, in view of the ongoing construction of a new flyover across the RK Nagar Railway Level Crossing in New Washermenpet.

The flyover project is being carried out between Vaidyanathan Flyover and RK Nagar Junction. To facilitate the construction work and ensure smooth traffic movement, several alternative routes have been designated for motorists, buses, and heavy vehicles.

According to the traffic police, vehicles traveling towards Korukkupet from the IOCL Junction must turn left at Vaidyanathan Flyover and proceed via TH Road to reach Korukkupet Junction.

Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) heading towards IOCL from the RK Nagar New Flyover should turn right at RK Nagar Junction, travel through Korukkupet Railway Gate and TH Road, and then turn right at Vaidyanathan Flyover to reach the IOCL Junction.

For motorists traveling towards IOCL via Meenambal Flyover, vehicles should turn right at KNS Depot or take a left at RK Nagar Junction and continue through Chunnambu Kalvai Road before reaching the destination.

Meanwhile, buses and heavy vehicles approaching IOCL through Moolakothalam must proceed straight to Mint Junction, turn left, and travel via Kannan Roundabout, TH Road, and Vaidyanathan Flyover.

LMVs coming through Moolakothalam should take a left at RK Nagar Junction, continue through Chunnambu Kalvai Road and Annai Sathya Nagar, and then turn right to reach the IOCL Junction.

Motorists are advised to follow the diversion signs placed along the affected routes and cooperate with traffic police personnel. Commuters should expect delays during peak hours and plan their travel accordingly while the flyover construction work is underway.
