Do you know how many students registered for engineering admissions now in TN?

Admission of students to the engineering courses has been tapering off in recent years. Now, engineering courses are once again the most sought course!!
Now, in the last 4 days after launching the online admission for engineering, the directorate of technical education or DoTE received 70000 applications for engineering. It must be noted that in the last year just 71000 of the 1.47lakh engineering seats got filled in TN.
On the first day of online admissions, as many as25611 students got registered and on the second day the number increased to 41363. On the third day, the number of students who got registered increased to 57513. This was brought out by a senior official. He spoke about how till 5pm on Thursday the registration count was 68618 and how at the end of the day it would further increase to 70000. Till now just 31276 students have uploaded their certificates and this was pointed out by the official. By 24th August (last date for filling applications), the total number of applications is likely to cross 1.5lakhs. On 25th August, random numbers would be assigned and a rank list would be prepared on the next day.
It is now said that the performance of the students in the class12 public examinations has been the major factor for more number of showing interest in engineering now. Truth is that the overall performance of the class 12 students went up this year. Hundred percent pass has been recorded in TN this year and many have scored more than 90 percent.
