53 Police Inspectors Transferred to Chennai Ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

In a significant administrative move, 53 police inspectors from across Tamil Nadu have been transferred to the Chennai City Police as part of preparations for the upcoming legislative assembly elections.

The Election Commission of India is planning to conduct the state assembly elections in April, and preliminary arrangements are currently underway. As part of election protocols, police officials who have been working in the same location for more than three years are being transferred to ensure administrative neutrality and smooth conduct of the polls.

Transfer Orders Issued

The transfer order was issued on Friday by G. Venkataraman, directing that 53 inspectors from various police stations and special units across the state be posted to Chennai.

Some of the Key Officers Transferred

Among the inspectors transferred to Chennai are:

V. Kathiresan – Inspector, Lalgudi Police Station, Tiruchirappalli

K. Deepanandam – Inspector, Ramji Nagar Police Station

G. Senguttuvan – Inspector, Crime Records Bureau, Nagapattinam

P. Devika – Inspector, Cyber Crime Wing, Kanchipuram District

Officials said that the transferred inspectors are expected to assume their new responsibilities in the Chennai City Police within the next few days.

The move is part of broader election preparations to ensure efficient law enforcement and maintain law and order during the election period.
