Chennai Special Buses: 1,784 Extra Services Operated for May Day & Chitra Pournami Rush
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has announced the operation of 1,784 special buses from Chennai to manage the heavy travel demand during the May Day long weekend and Chitra Pournami festival.
To ensure smooth travel for the public, transport authorities have significantly increased bus services across major routes.
According to official data, between April 30 and early hours of May 1 (03:00 AM):
- 2,092 regular buses were operated as scheduled
- 1,784 additional special buses were deployed
- A total of 3,876 buses were operated
- Around 2,13,180 passengers traveled during this period
The transport corporation stated that additional buses will continue to be operated based on passenger demand throughout the holiday period.
This move aims to reduce congestion and provide convenient travel options for people heading to their hometowns and tourist destinations during the festive holiday.
