The government has reiterated that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel, while continuing to tighten rules around LPG cylinder booking and delivery to prevent black marketing and hoarding.

Under the latest system, an OTP (One-Time Password) has become mandatory for receiving LPG cylinder deliveries from major providers including Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas.

Officials stated that consumers must complete bookings through online or digital platforms, and the OTP sent to the registered mobile number must be shared during delivery verification.

Common Reasons Why LPG OTP May Not Be Received

Consumers may fail to receive OTPs due to several common issues:

- Incorrect mobile number linked to the LPG account

- Poor mobile network or signal issues

- DND (Do Not Disturb) settings blocking messages

- Temporary server issues at LPG companies

- Full SMS inbox preventing new messages

- Mobile device glitches requiring a restart

- OTP messages landing in spam folders

New LPG Refill Waiting Period Rules

To manage supply efficiently:

- Urban consumers can book a refill only after 25 days

- Rural consumers must wait 45 days between refills

How to Book LPG Cylinders

Consumers can book LPG refills through:

- IVRS and missed-call services

- WhatsApp booking

- Official websites and mobile apps

- Government platforms such as UMANG, Paytm, Amazon Pay, and PhonePe

OTP Delivery Process

After booking:

1. Consumers receive a booking confirmation number

2. Delivery updates are shared through SMS and apps

3. On delivery day, an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number

4. The OTP must be verified before the cylinder is handed over

The government has also encouraged households to consider alternative fuel options such as PNG connections and induction cooktops to support energy conservation efforts.
