MTC Chennai Enhances Premium Bus Services with Fewer Stops & New Features
The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) in Chennai has introduced key improvements to its Premium Bus Services (P570S & P91), aiming to offer faster and more comfortable travel for commuters.
These services, initially launched on a pilot basis, have now been upgraded based on passenger feedback.
One of the major changes is the reduction in the number of stops to ensure quicker journeys. The P570S route has been cut down from 49 stops to 16, covering key points from Koyambedu to Siruseri IT Park. Similarly, the P91 route has been streamlined from 34 stops to 16, connecting Kilambakkam to Thiruvanmiyur via important transit hubs and IT corridors. Passengers can now board and alight only at these designated stops.
MTC has also introduced live bus tracking, allowing commuters to monitor buses in real time and plan their trips better. Additionally, passengers can now book up to four tickets in a single transaction, making group travel more convenient.
In a significant move to improve efficiency, pre-booking has been made mandatory, and onboard ticket booking is no longer allowed. Travelers are required to reserve their seats in advance through the Chennai One App.
MTC has encouraged commuters to share feedback and reach out via social media or helpline for any assistance, reaffirming its commitment to improving public transport services in the city.
