An important piece of information for the in-service teachers working across the state of Tamil Nadu!!
The news is that as per an order from the school education department Teacher`s Recruitment Board or TRB is planning to conduct a special eligibility test for in-service teachers on 24th of January 2026. A special permission petition was filed in the Supreme Court or SC and following the verdict issued on the special permission petition the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the chairman of TRB to conduct special teacher eligibility tests in the months of January 2026, July 2026 and December 2026 along with the regular teacher eligibility tests or TET for currently serving teachers.
It must be noted that a government order or GO has been issued authorising the chairman of TRB to conduct TET in 2027 based on the number of teachers remaining to pass and that after the review of 2026 examination results. Following this TRB is planning to conduct a special qualification test for the teachers working across Tamil Nadu.
Yesterday an announcement was issued by Teachers Recruitment Board and as per the announcement in accordance with the GO 231 issued by the government based on the verdict of SC in addition to the teachers qualifying examinations for only intermediate and graduate teachers working currently in the Tamil Nadu schools, the special qualifying examination would be held in January, July and December 2026. It is said that on 24th January paper 1 and on 25th January paper 2 would be conducted by TRB. The announcement for this would be made at the end of November.
Point to be noted is that an announcement regarding a special eligibility test that would be conducted in July and December 2026 would be made later.
