Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rain Likely in 7 Districts Tomorrow

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast heavy rainfall in seven districts of Tamil Nadu on June 17 due to a trough extending from the central-west Bay of Bengal to the Kerala coast.

According to the weather department, the Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, and Ramanathapuram districts are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds of 40-50 kmph.

The weather agency has also warned that heavy rainfall may continue on June 18 in several districts, including Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Ariyalur, and Perambalur.

Chennai is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in isolated areas over the next two days. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain around 39-40°C.

Meanwhile, fishermen have been advised not to venture into Tamil Nadu coastal waters, the Gulf of Mannar, and adjoining sea areas until June 18 due to strong winds reaching up to 60 kmph.

Residents in the affected districts are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
