Traffic Diversion in T Nagar due to Link Flyover Construction

Chennai Corporation has announced a series of traffic changes to be implemented from Friday, July 7th, to Thursday, July 13th, in the South Usman Road and surrounding areas. These changes are in response to the construction work on the link flyover from South Usman Flyover to CIT 1st Main Road on Anna Salai. The following traffic modifications will be in effect for one week:
1. Route Change for Vehicles and MTC Buses from Anna Salai to T Nagar Madley Junction:
- Vehicles, including MTC buses, traveling from Anna Salai and heading towards T Nagar Madley Junction, will need to take a left turn at Kannammapet Junction onto New Boag Road.
- From New Boag Road, they should proceed by taking a right turn onto Muthurangan Road and continue until reaching T Nagar Bus Depot Usman Road.
2. Route Change for MTC Buses from Pothys Flyover to Usman Road:
- MTC buses traveling from Pothys Flyover to Usman Road will need to take a left turn at Madley Junction.
- They should then proceed towards Burkit Road.
3. Route Change for MTC Buses from T Nagar Bus Depot:
- MTC buses exiting T Nagar Bus Depot should take a right turn at Madley Junction and proceed towards Burkit Road.
4. Common Route for MTC Buses from Burkit Road:
- MTC buses from both the aforementioned routes will take a right turn at Mooparapan Junction.
- They will then continue through the link road or 5th Main Road via CIT Nagar roundabout to reach Anna Salai.
- The road from Madley Junction to Mooparapan Road, via Burkit Road, will be converted into one-way traffic.
5. Route Change for Light Vehicles from Pothys Flyover to Usman Road:
- Light vehicles traveling from Pothys Flyover to Usman Road should take a right turn at Madley Junction.
- They should proceed towards Madley Subway to reach West Mambalam and West Saidapet.
6. Route Change for Vehicles from JYM Junction:
- Vehicles from the JYM Junction can take a left turn onto Dandapani Street.
- They can then proceed towards Anna Salai and CIT Nagar via Mooparappan Road, using either the 5th Main Road or Link Road.
7. Route Change for Vehicles from Venkatnarayana Road to T Nagar:
- Vehicles coming from Venkatnarayana Road should take a left turn at Burkit Road.
- They should then proceed towards Mooparapan Junction and take a left turn onto Moosa Street to reach T Nagar.
The Chennai Cororporation urges all commuters to familiarize themselves with these temporary traffic changes and plan their journeys accordingly. These modifications have been put in place to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the construction of the link flyover.
