Southern Railway Cancels 27 Chennai Local Trains on June 27; Check Affected Routes

Southern Railway has announced the cancellation of 27 suburban EMU and MEMU train services on June 27, 2026, due to scheduled track maintenance work at the Arakkonam Railway Yard. The maintenance work, scheduled for June 27 and 28, is aimed at improving railway infrastructure and ensuring safer train operations.

As part of the maintenance activity, several suburban train services connecting Arakkonam, Chennai Moore Market Complex, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Tiruttani, Katpadi, Tiruchanur, and Avadi will remain cancelled throughout the day on June 27.

From Arakkonam, the cancelled services include trains departing at 5:50 AM and 6:15 PM to Chengalpattu, 7:20 AM, 10:00 AM, and 2:50 PM to Vellore, 9:15 PM to Tiruchanur, 9:00 PM to Katpadi, 4:00 AM, 5:00 AM, and 6:00 AM to Tiruttani, and 7:00 PM to Chennai Moore Market Complex.

Several return services have also been cancelled, including the 7:10 PM train from Chennai Moore Market Complex to Arakkonam, the 4:30 AM Fast EMU from Katpadi to Arakkonam, the 6:10 PM train from Avadi to Moore Market Complex, the 9:15 PM and 11:10 PM services from Tiruttani to Arakkonam, and the 8:20 AM and 8:25 PM trains from Chengalpattu to Arakkonam.

Southern Railway has advised passengers to check the latest train schedules before commencing their journey and make alternate travel arrangements if required. The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and requested passengers to cooperate during the maintenance work.
