Heavy Rain Alert for 10 Tamil Nadu Districts Today; Thunderstorms Expected in Several Regions

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has issued a heavy rain alert for 10 districts in Tamil Nadu today, warning of widespread rainfall activity across several parts of the state.

According to the latest weather forecast, Nilgiris, Salem, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall today.

The weather department has also predicted heavy rain on the following day in Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, and Ariyalur districts.

Apart from the heavy rain warning, the Meteorological Centre stated that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning may occur at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

In a separate update, the weather department said that Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Kanniyakumari, and Tirunelveli districts could receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms until 1 PM today.

With rainfall activity expected to intensify in several regions, residents are advised to remain cautious, follow official weather updates, and take necessary precautions while travelling during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
