Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Campaign - Date: 31-01-2021

- Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Campaign in Tamil Nadu will be conducted on 31.01.2021(Sunday).
- 43,051 booths established in all PHCs/Government Hospitals/ ICDS Centres, Noon Meal Centres, Schools and other important places in Tamil Nadu.
- Elaborate arrangements have been made to vaccinate 70.26 lakhs target children in these booths.
- PPI campaigns supported by UNICEF, WHO and Rotary International.
Key Points:
1. Immunization booths will function from 7AM. to 5PM.
2. All children in the age group of (0-5) years will be given polio drops on 31-01-2021 (Sunday).
3. Conduct of safe PPI 2021 Campaign adhering to the COVID-19 protocol and guidelines.
4. Social distancing , Wearing a Face-mask and Hand Washing during the activity is MANDATORY.
5. Wash hands before starting vaccination with alcohol-based sanitizer or soap with water.
6. Persons / children with fever/cough or other symptoms suggestive of COVID should not be allowed inside the booth.
7. Overcrowding at booths to be avoided. Only one caregiver to accompany each beneficiary.
8. Children immunized recently under Routine Immunization Schedule should also to be given Polio drops on the campaign days.
9. All newborn children should be given Polio drops on campaign days.
10. To identify missed out children, finger marking is done for all vaccinated children on the left little finger.
11. Private Paediatricians and Private Hospitals will also administer polio drops in their clinics on PPI day.
12. Children of Migrant labourers are also given polio drops on the campaign day.
13. More than 3000 Government Vehicles are deployed for the Campaign.
14. Transit booth with COVID-19 guidelines will be functioning in major bus stands, railway stations, Toll plazas, Check posts, Airports during the campaign days to cover the children on travel.
15. Mobile teams have also been formed to administer polio drops to children living in remote, inaccessible and migrant areas.
16. About 2 lakhs personnel from Health, Integrated Child Development scheme, Education and other Government Departments and volunteers are
engaged in this Campaign.
17. Due to successful implementation of Pulse Polio Campaigns, the State is entering 17th Polio Free Year. Now, it is very much essential to sustain this polio free status and also to protect our children from any possible transmission of wild polio virus. All parents are requested to utilize this opportunity and get their children immunized on Pulse Polio days.
