Officials Deployed at Chennai Airport to Enforce Election Code

With the Model Code of Conduct in force ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Election Commission has appointed special officers at Chennai Airport to strengthen monitoring.
Senior officials have been deployed to oversee passenger movement and cargo operations, ensuring strict checks on unaccounted cash, gold, electronic goods, and illegal items.
Authorities have been instructed to seize suspicious materials and report immediately to higher officials. Meanwhile, income tax and customs departments are also carrying out intensified surveillance at the airport.
