Orange Alert Issued for 4 Districts in Tamil Nadu Today; Heavy to Very Heavy Rain Forecast
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued an Orange Alert for four districts in Tamil Nadu, warning of very heavy rainfall due to active southwest monsoon conditions across the state.
According to the latest weather forecast, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni, and Dindigul districts are expected to receive very heavy rainfall today. Residents in these districts have been advised to remain cautious, especially in hilly and low-lying areas that are prone to waterlogging and landslides.
The weather department has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in several other districts, including Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Erode, Salem, Tirupathur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruppur, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
The ongoing rainfall activity is being influenced by favorable atmospheric conditions associated with the southwest monsoon, which continues to strengthen over parts of South India. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised the public to follow weather updates and safety instructions issued by local administrations.
