No GST for medicines until August

The patients can continue to buy the essential medicines at the same price before implementation of GST. The prices of these items will not go up immediately.
The pharmaceutical traders have announced that the medicines can be bought at the prevailing prices till August.
Essential medicines come under the 12% slab in GST. For emergency medical treatment equipment and insulin, the GST slab is 5%.
It is informed that the retail traders can continue to sell their medicine in stock at the prevailing rates. They have to include GST once the medicines in their stock get sold.
