Medical Equipment Worth Rs.7.39 Crore Launched at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital

Health Minister M. Subramanian inaugurated new medical equipment worth Rs.7.39 crore at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai to enhance healthcare services for the public. As part of the initiative, improvements to the 108 ambulance service and a WhatsApp facility for public access were also introduced.

The minister also launched a medical magazine titled “J.M.M.C.” and flagged off two multi-purpose mobile ophthalmology vehicles for Krishnagiri and Tiruvarur districts at a cost of Rs.60 lakh.

The newly introduced facilities at the hospital include a high-end vascular C-Arm device and hybrid vascular surgery platform costing Rs.3.80 crore, spinal cord endoscopy treatment equipment worth Rs.2.03 crore, and 13 advanced anesthesia machines worth Rs.1.56 crore. These facilities will help provide advanced treatment for complex diseases with faster recovery. The minister also noted that eye treatment centers are functioning in 97 government hospitals across Tamil Nadu.
