The state Department of Heath of Tamil Nadu has ordered that the scanning charges need not be collected from the patients coming to the government hospitals in the districts affected by the cyclone Gaja.

The recent cyclone Gaja has caused havoc and great damage in the districts of Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Pudhukkottai. With the worst possible damages, people are in a great struggle after losing their abodes and belongings and are in need of even the basic amenities including food.

With the damage caused by the cyclone including the collapse of the houses, felling of the trees, etc., several people who suffer from ill health are visiting hospitals. Several tests need to be conducted for these patients.

Most of the patients are not even in a position to pay for the minimal testing charges such as CT, scan, etc. Hence, the patients are forced to return without treatment. Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu State government Department of Health has ordered that all the government hospitals in the cyclone-affected districts need not collect the scan charges from the patients until 15th December.
