Aadi Amavasya 2025: Good Time to Offer Tharpanam

Posted on: 24/Jul/2025 7:52:52 AM

This year, Aadi Amavasya falls on July 24, with the Amavasya Tithi starting at 3:06 AM today and ending at 1:48 AM on July 25.

As per tradition, Tharpanam should be performed only after sunrise and before midday. It should not be done during Rahu Kalam or Yamagandam. Today, Yamagandam is from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, and Rahu Kalam is from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

Hence, the auspicious time to offer Tharpanam is between 7:35 AM and 12:00 noon.

According to astrology, charitable acts such as feeding crows and giving alms on Aadi Amavasya are believed to invoke ancestral blessings and bring prosperity to the family. It is customary to perform regular worship only after offering Tharpanam. Those observing the day through fasting and rituals are advised to complete offerings before 1:25 PM.
