After many days of soaring temperatures, yesterday on 1st of May, there were rains in Chennai. This brought happiness on the faces of many residents. The Presence of cloudy weather made the temperatures come down. For atleast next 2 days, Chennai would have rains and this was mentioned by some weathermen.

The weather bloggers are hoping that there will be rains in the city till Friday. Many suburban places plus some core places in Chennai city received rain yesterday.

Till 7:30pm in the evening yesterday, Nungambakkm received 3 mm of rain and Meenambakkm received 19.9mm of rain. In these important places in the city, the temperatures have decreased.

It must be noted that in May or peak summer season in Chennai the average day temperature is 37.1degrees Celsius. Trough or wind discontinuity over the southern peninsula has led to rains in Chennai and this was brought out by an officer from IMD. It is learnt that the wind discontinuity is a line when there is a sharp change in the speeds of winds and direction of opposing winds.

Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning  would take place in Chennai and its suburbs in the next 2 days. It was mentioned by Mr. Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet Weather the intensity of rains might become more in the next 24 hours in some parts of TN.

The conditions are now perfect for 4 days of rains in TN and this was according to Mr. Pradeep John famous weather blogger. He added that Chennai would also get rains especially in the mornings as the wind convergence would be near to coastal areas.
