Strong Prospects for very heavy rains today and tomorrow

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that the low-pressure presently prevailing at the Kanyakumari Ocean Zone, will drift towards the west and in the next 24 hours will move to Southeast Arabian Sea!

Further, the cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere up to Andhra due to the depression zone will lead to strong prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder on today (Tuesday, 2nd November) and tomorrow (Wednesday, 3rd November)  in a few places in the districts of Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvannamalai.

As such, an ‘Orange Warning’ has been issued to these 4 districts!

Further, there are prospects for heavy rains in a few places in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Vellore, Ranippettai, Madurai, Pudhukko0ttai, Ramanathapuram, Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi, the Delta Districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.

On day-after-tomorrow (Thursday, 4th November), there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in Chengalpattu, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore, Kanchipuram, Salem, the Delta Districts and Karaikkal.

On 5th & 6th November, there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Thiruvallur, Ranippettai, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Cuddalore.

In the coastal districts and the districts adjacent to them, and Puducherry and Karaikkal, there are prospects for widespread medium rains with lightning and thunder!

As regards Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain generally cloudy for the next 48 hours. There are prospects for medium rains in some parts of the city and sporadic heavy rains as well.

Today (Tuesday, 2nd November) high-speed cyclonic winds at 40 to 50 kmph are likely to blow in the Kanyakumari Ocean area and Kerala coastal areas. For tomorrow and the day after, cyclonic winds at 40 to 50 kmph speeds is likely to blow across the Kerala coastal area, Lakhdiv, and Southeast Arabian Sea.

5th & 6th November: As cyclonic high-speed winds are likely to blow across at 40-50 kmph in the central-east Arabian Sea, and the adjacent Southeast Arabian Sea regions, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in these areas on 5th & 6th November.
