Peak of summer Agni Nakshatram commences on 4th May and concludes on 29th May

The peak of the summer season, known as ‘Agni Nakshatram’ or ‘kathiri veyyil’ in Tamil Nadu, is set to occur from 4th May to 29th May. Hence, it may be strongly expected that the intensity of the heat will increase to higher levels even!

The months of April and May are considered as the summer in Tamil Nadu. With the monsoon rainy season having utterly failed in Tamil Nadu, the impact of the scorching summer heat started as early as the start of February.

Reminding the famous Tamil saying, ‘the bell sound comes first, and then appears the elephant’, even before the onset of the peak summer ‘Agni Naksartam’, the temperature has already crossed the 100 Degrees mark most of the days in Vellore, Karur, Salem, Tiruthani, Trichy, Thanjavur, Madurai, and Palayamkottaiputting the public to extreme hardships!

Further, it was very eagerly expected that the recently formed cyclone ‘Fani’ will bring copious rainwater, desperately much needed right now in Tamil Nadu, the disappointing news is out that the cyclone has changed directions! Moreover, as it is a routine phenomenon the changed direction of the cyclone will also absorb the land humidity, there are prospects that the temperature will be higher by 2 to 3 degrees! This is informed by the weather centre.

In this scenario, the peak summer period, ‘Agni Nakshatram’, is all set to start on 4th May and end by 29th May. Thus, it is strong on the hands that the impact of heat intensity will be further up during these days!

It is also likely that this period, with high-intensity heat, will lead to more sweating leading to dehydrated body conditions! The public will be suffering from the extra thirst, fatigue, headache, and sprains in the muscles/tissues.

In order to prevent the above conditions, it is advisable to drink large amounts of drinking water and also take items with rich water content such as palm date (Nungu), tender coconut, buttermilk, watermelon, etc., as per the doctors’ recommendation.
