With yesterday’s (Saturday, 30th March) scorching summer heat, the temperature crossed the 100 Degrees mark in 10 cities in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The officials from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained in this regard:

‘In the coastal area surrounding the areas in Tamil Nadu state, presently there are o cyclonic forms developed. Hence, the wind movement in the atmosphere has weakened considerably and there was no high-humid breeze/air flow reaching the interior areas of Tamil Nadu. This has led to a high-intensity heat level prevailing in the interior districts,`

As per the temperatures recorded at 5.30 PM yesterday (Saturday, 30th March), a maximum temperature of 105 Degrees was recorded at Karur Paramathi. Madurai, Tiruthani, and Vellore recorded 104 Degrees. Dharmapuri, Salem, and Trichy recorded 103 Degrees. Namakkal and Palayamkottai recorded 102 Degrees. Coimbatore recorded 100 Degrees.

A dry climate will prevail in the next few days in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. There are prospects of the temperature shooting up by up to 5 Degrees compared to normal in the interior districts.
