Air India has announced a reduction in international flight operations along with temporary suspension of services on six overseas routes, including the Chennai–Singapore sector, amid rising jet fuel prices and continuing airspace restrictions.

The airline stated that the latest rationalisation of services will remain effective during the June to August period as global aviation challenges continue to impact international commercial operations.

According to Air India, multiple factors such as restricted airspace in certain regions and record-high aviation fuel costs have significantly affected the operational viability of several planned international services.

Air India Routes Temporarily Suspended

Delhi – Chicago
Mumbai – New York
Delhi – Shanghai
Chennai – Singapore
Mumbai – Dhaka
Delhi – Male

The airline said the decision has been taken as part of operational and commercial adjustments aimed at improving efficiency and managing costs during the current global aviation situation.

Industry experts say rising fuel prices, operational expenses, and international airspace limitations continue to create challenges for airlines operating long-haul international routes. Passengers travelling during the upcoming summer season are advised to check flight schedules and service updates before planning their journey.

The latest move is expected to impact travellers on several important international sectors, especially passengers flying between Chennai and Singapore.
