Southern Railway Diverts 6 Chennai–North India Express Trains for 13 Days Due to Track Maintenance

The Southern Railway has announced that six express trains operating between Chennai and North Indian destinations will be diverted on selected dates for 13 days due to track and infrastructure maintenance works being carried out in the Eastern Railway zone.

According to an official statement, the maintenance work will continue throughout July, requiring temporary changes in the routes of several long-distance trains to ensure safe and uninterrupted operations.

The Silchar–Nagercoil Express (Train No. 15629), which departs from Chennai at 6:40 PM, will operate via Asansol, Andal, and Sainthia instead of its usual route on July 6, 13, 20, 27; August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; and September 14, 21, and 28.

Similarly, the Silchar–Tambaram Express (Train No. 15630) will also be diverted via the same alternate route on the corresponding dates while operating towards Tambaram.

In addition, the New Tinsukia–Tambaram Express (Train No. 15929), departing from Tambaram at 6:40 PM, will run through Asansol, Andal, and Sainthia on July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; August 6, 13, 20, 27; and September 3, 10, 17, and 24.

Southern Railway has also stated that three more express trains operating from Chennai Central will be diverted on specified dates during July and August as part of the same maintenance schedule. Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedules and route updates before planning their journey to avoid inconvenience.
